Are you laughing right now wondering what happened to your own family? We all have moments were we look at family and think Why? What? How?
But we are called to love them anyway, even when we don't understand. It is a full on "Jesus is carrying me," moment to love when you just don't get it. I know when I don't understand, I sped a lot of time handing the burden of possible misunderstanding over to God, offering my struggle over in prayer for those in purgatory, and sometimes you just need to pray the rosary.
Advent is a particularly beautiful time to pray the rosary, because you get to focus on the Joyful mysteries which are all about the Holy Family. I use Bishop Barron's "The Rosary" meditation book, and there are a few lines that have stood out for me over the past weeks:
"How have I allowed Jesus to be King of my life?"
"Have I searched for my place in Gods story, abandoning the ego-drama for the theo-drama...?"
"The Nativity is the tale of two rival emperors, Cesar and the new born King, Jesus... The Nativity is the subversive presentation of the arrival of the new King."
"...To be reconciled to God is to be eyelash to eyelash with the Lord."
"...in the measure that everyone in the family focuses on Gods call for one another, the family becomes more loving and peaceful."
